We started Turn/River because we see the emergence of a new breed of technology company – bootstrapped, extremely lean, often profitable, usually SaaS, and operating almost entirely online. We think these companies are, in a strange way, a tough fit for the existing financial players: too capital efficient for venture capital, too small for traditional private equity and too messy for strategic acquirers. Turn/River was built specifically to step into this gap.

We are seeking a VP of Investment Development to lead the full cycle of the  sourcing process – from  identifying prospects,  building relationships, and ultimately closing the deal. You will own the sourcing process from beginning to end. The majority of our investment pipeline is proprietary – and you'll have high ownership over these outbound efforts and be responsible for long-term relationship building with our target software companies. We are looking for analytical, entrepreneurially-minded individuals with investment sourcing experience in the technology space or those who have led a team with demonstrated success in this domain. 

Responsibilities

  • Identify software companies open to growth capital and majority buyout capital from a Private Equity firm
  • Grow and nurture relationships with target software company CEOs, founders and shareholders
  • Work closely with Partners and the investment team to close new software investments
  • Craft the strategy and execute the right process and system to continuously improve our sourcing efforts 

 

Candidate Profile

  • Bachelor's degree with a minimum of 5 years experience in investment banking or a sourcing/business development role at an investment firm
  • Demonstrated ability to cold call/relationship build/sell both in volume and in more custom, high touch situations
  • Fluency with software systems and tools to support sourcing efforts
  • Understanding of software businesses and strong judgment to evaluate them in an investment capacity
  • Executive-level presence and communication with a hands-on attitude and approach
