The Head of People Operations is a unique role that provides an amazing opportunity to build high-performing teams across multiple software companies at every level of the organization, partnering deeply with leadership both at Turn/River as well as our portfolio companies. About the Role

The Operations team at Turn/River is tasked with driving growth for each new portfolio company. To help drive this growth, we are seeking a Head of People Operations. This leader will work directly with the executives at our portfolio companies, along with the Turn/River operations and investment teams, to shape and implement strategies that will help us build healthy organizations that acquire, develop, and retain high-performing employees.

We need a proven talent leader with an analytical, detailed, process-oriented mindset that can also think strategically about the big picture. A successful candidate will be able to not only develop high level playbook strategies but also “roll up their sleeves” and collaboratively execute those strategies. 

Responsibilities

  • Evaluate talent for all new acquisitions & develop strategic talent & HR recommendations for each firm Turn/River brings into the portfolio
  • Define Turn/River’s performance management processes, along with standardized best practices for our portfolio companies related to employee succession and promotion
  • Own employee engagement across our portfolio of companies. Develop insights & best practices across Turn/River’s portfolio regarding employee retention, turnover, and industry benchmarking
  • Create benchmarks of compensation/benefits across portfolio company geographic markets
  • Define best practices for organizational design based on the stage and operational context of the portfolio company
  • Lead the Talent Acquisition team, and all related efforts, across Turn/River and our portfolio companies
  • Build scalable playbooks to develop, train, and retain employees within Turn/River’s portfolio companies, and for Turn/River itself
  • Supports the organization with development and implementation of corporate diversity, equity and inclusion strategies in HR functions, including recruitment, performance management, leadership development, employee engagement and retention.

Requirements

  • 8 to 10+ years work experience in talent management (private equity, high growth SaaS, and/or software companies preferred)
  • Proven track-record in performance management, employee engagement, and organizational design
  • Some executive search experience preferred
  • Excellent written and verbal communication, focused on the bottom line in all communications
  • Skilled at establishing and maintaining strong relationships with executives, hiring managers, and peers
  • Able to document and teach best practices, strategies, and tactics
  • Strong project management skills; detail-oriented with the ability to multi-task and operate in a fast-paced environment with a sense of urgency and focus
  • Bachelor's degree required, MBA preferred
